Pathirakali Amman Events

1. Tirumal pooja:
This festivel is celebrated on 1st Thai(a tamil month) of each year.
Out of 12 months, Thai is a special one. Each Tamilan belive that "THAI PIRANTHAL VAZHLI PIRAKUM'. That is, from this month god will give a growth for every people. In continuation with special poojas, cultural events like Songs competions will be conducted.

2. Puratasi tiruvizha:
Most part of tamil nadu will be colourful during Puratasi (a tamil month), because of Temple festivels. Kurumbalaperi's Patirakali amman temple celebrates second tuesday of Puratasi as temple festivel. Various functions are celebrated from Monday to Wednesday.
>> Sunday Evening
"Kuthuvizhaku poojai" will be conducted around 5.00p.m. All Kurumbalaperi ladies will participate in this event and sing songs of amman. Three participants will be selected By lottery method and awarded "Tiruvilaku". People belives that amman itself brings the gift to them.

>> Monday Night

"Saparam Elluthal" The Saparam will visit each and every home. Kurumbalaperi people belives that Amman visits their home directly.

Kurumabalperi people celebrate this festivel grantly, as they belive Patirakali amman is the "Vazhli kaati " of them. Kurumbalaperi people invite their relatives and friends for this festivel. Each people willing to wear new dress during this festivel and not for dipavali too!!!

Around 10.00p.m cultural event like Debate will be arranged at "amman sannathi".

>> Tuesday evening

Baktharkal will give salt, enji, milagu as kanikai to amman.

"Saparam" will reach the temple around 5.00p.m. There will be a huge crowd in the "amman sannathi". Fruits like Banana, orange will be thrown to the "Baktharkal". At the end "Yelam" will be conduted to distribute the "kaanikai" of "paktharkal".

Youths will show their presense by making crazy things like making sound, forming a tall Man tree!!! Each hang guys will wear a group shirt to show their group nos.

Around 10.30p.m cultural event like "Song kacheri" will be arranged. This event will end at 1.00a.m.

Around 1.00a.m tamil nadu's special cultural program "Karagatam" will be conducted


>> Wednesday

Each family will bring “Mavilaku” to temple around 11.00a.m.

Then “Kida vetuthal” will be conducted. Finally Padayal will be provided to amman. The people will take back their “Mavilaku” to home.

Around 10.00p.m any cultural events will be conducted.

3. Weekly Poojas

Every Tuesday and Friday special poojas are conducted.

Kurumbalaperi

Kurumbalaperi is a small village located near Pavoorchatram in Tenkasi Taluk, Tirunelveli District in he Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located between Pavoorchatram, Kilapavoor and Melapavoor. People of diverse religious practices live in the area.

Temples[edit]

Many temples are found in this village, at an average of 2 on each of its 28 streets. Padrakali Amman is almost at the centre of the village and is a common temple to all the people of this village and hosts its main festival, which takes place every 2nd Tuesday of Purattasi (Tamil calendar).

Education[edit]

Kurumbalaperi has two primary Tamil Medium Schools, one middle school, one Tamil medium High school and one English medium primary school. At Pavoorchatram two government higher secondary Schools are available separately for boys and girls.

The village has bus terminals and one railway station (2k distance).
